They beat the home opponent, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Li Ka Shing College 3-0, with a solid performance. 5C Chan Hon Lam was also the best debater.
The topic for debate was "The Hong Kong government should carry out the presumed consent system for organ donation". Our team were against the motion and argued that the system would be a kind of moral coercion or even hijacking of morality, but with uncertain results despite spending a lot of effort. The students presented their confidence and enthusiasm in debating which also helped win the favor of the judges.
Tung Wah holds the Joint Schools Debate Competition for 18 secondary schools every two years to implement the "All-round Education" mission in education. This year our school defeated Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Sun Hoi Directors' College and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Li Ka Shing College to enter the semi-finals. In 2010 our school was the 2nd runner-up and in 2012 the 1st runner-up. The team will debate against the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lo Kon Ting Memorial College on 2nd of May for seats at the finals. We hope our debate team can keep up the excellent performance they have shown thus far in order to achieve the amazing results that we know they are capable of.
