The S1 Bridging & Induction Programme Passing-out Ceremony was held on 24 August 2018. This year we have the honour of having Ms. Wang Chun Mei, Chairman of PTA, Ms. Lam Lai Fong, Vice-chairman of PTA, Ms. Hon Kam Ping, Executive Committee Member of PTA and Mr. Jack Wong, Principal Designate as our officiating guests. Parents of the S.1 new students were invited to share the joy with our teachers and students. During the ceremony, our new S.1 students performed English drama, martial arts and played instrument. They put a lot of time in practicing and their performance was admirable. Then, all S.1 students marched in teams to the hall reviewed by our honourable guests. The neat and tidy formation showed that they were well-disciplined and well-behaved and their performance was highly appreciated. Our honourable guests then awarded graduation certificates to our S.1 students. All these certificates confirmed their success in overcoming the challenges during the training and we all hope that they can have the same courage to face difficulties in all aspects in the coming years. At last, parents were so excited that they rushed out for a photo together. This photo showed how joyful and delighted the parents are when they have their students studying in our school and how grateful our S.1 students are as they can have their coming 6 years living in the big family of S. C. Gaw.
To enable students to adapt to the secondary school life as soon as possible, and to explore the potentials of students, an S.1 New Student Bridging & Induction Programme was held by our school to our S.1 new students. Each S.1 student was provided with a JS1 Bridging Handbook and JS1 Student Orientation Handbook —“My Personal Profile” (我的手冊). Through the Bridging Course, students learnt basic subject knowledge for the coming academic year and their interest in using English as a medium of instruction has been aroused. The second part of the programme was an Induction, Footdrill and Moral Training Course held from 13 to 24 August. The aims of these are to enhance ethical standards of the students, develop their independent thinking, cultivate and develop their proper perception of values and enhance their problem solving skills. The other part of the programme consisted of a series of activities held from 13 to 23 August. With the help of school social workers and peer group guidance leaders, S.1 students learned how to adapt to norms and regulations at school by playing the survival and ice-breaking games.
